MSYSA to Invest Another $45,000 to Grow the Game of Soccer!
GLENWOOD, MD (October 18, 2021): As one way of continuing to support those who participate in the beautiful game of soccer within Maryland and DC, the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) announced today that another $45,000 in scholarships and grants will be made available beginning Monday, October 18.
The MSYSA Affiliate Grants and Presidential Scholarships program expands the game of soccer at the grassroots level within underserved and under-resourced communities by reducing the cost of programming and giving more children a chance to play.
“Growing the beautiful game of soccer continues to be our mission,” MSYSA President Mark Cantor said. “I am so proud to be investing another $45,000 in this way, and I look forward to the positive impact that this will have on the lives of so many within our community.”
The grants program awards funds in the amount of $500 to $5,000 to member clubs and leagues in recognition of the work they do to develop players and improve lives. The application window is open until November 19. Recipients will be notified by December 17.
The scholarship program recognizes coaches, players, administrators, referees, and other volunteers who selflessly give of their time, energy, and abilities. Offered on a rolling, first-come, first-serve basis the award amounts vary from $50 to $500.
The program chair, Trish Heffelfinger, said, “The response from the community for these scholarships and grants has been overwhelming positive, and it is wonderful to know the incredible impact that these funds are having in the lives of so many.”
