About:

The Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) is a member of the US Soccer Federation as a National State Association and is affiliated with US Youth Soccer. MSYSA serves as the primary advocate for youth soccer in the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia. MSYSA is dedicated to offering the highest quality soccer education, player development, and programs while fostering sportsmanship, fitness, diversity, teamwork, and passion for the game. 

Established in 1976, the MSYSA proudly serves a membership of 148 affiliate clubs and leagues typically registering 63,000 players and thousands of coaches, administrators, and volunteers. The MSYSA state office is located in Glenwood, Maryland.

Job Description:

The MSYSA Marketing & Communications Coordinator oversees the MSYSA website and social media channels and manages partnership and sponsorship agreements.  This position, in working with the MSYSA Executive Director, ensures that all public-facing communications are timely, accurate, and on brand. This position also assists other members of the MSYSA office staff team with age verification, tournament sanctioning, and additional duties as assigned. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator is a full-time, exempt position and reports to the MSYSA Executive Director.  Some evening and weekend hours are required. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Marketing & Communications
    • Update MSYSA website (msysa.org) with information pertaining to all programs and offerings.
    • Manage MSYSA partner and sponsor agreements to ensure compliance with guaranteed posts, etc.
    • Coordinate on-site photographer(s) to ensure coverage and quality of shots.
    • Prepare and send mass email communications pertaining to various topics.
    • Create graphics to support marketing and communication efforts.
    • Create and publish affiliate, coach, and player spotlights.
    • Monitor affiliate social media accounts and reshare/tweet/post as appropriate from MSYSA account(s).
    • Answer questions and respond promptly to emails or calls.
    • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Membership
    • Review new affiliate request packets online and create affiliate folders.
    • Add new affiliates to MSYSA website and tracking spreadsheet.
    • Maintain affiliate spreadsheet to reflect annual affiliation fee, travel and rec player counts, and database registration status.
    • Communicate with affiliates with regards to above items, as needed.
    • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Tournament Sanctioning
    • Receive and review all tournament sanctioning requests.
    • Maintain MSYSA tournament sanctioning spreadsheet and update website accordingly.
    • Follow up and ensure that post-tournament reports and sanctioning fees are collected.
    • Maintain paper records of past sanctioned tournaments for a period of three years.
    • Additional duties as assigned.
  • General Office Responsibilities
    • Collect mail each day.
    • Coordinate office supply purchases. This includes ordering ink for printer/copier.
    • Organize and re-stock office supplies, as necessary.
    • Answer the office phone, transfer as needed, and take messages, as appropriate.
    • Assist with set-up and check-in at AGM and various parent and coach meetings, as needed.
    • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Adobe (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and take direction
  • Team player
  • BSc/BA in marketing & communications, or similar degree a plus
  • Must be eligible to work in the USA and pass annual background check

Compensation:

Salary is commensurate with experience.
