Two Maryland Teams Crowned 2018 US Youth Soccer National Champions

MON, July 30, Glen Burnie, MD – Two Maryland youth soccer teams earned US Youth Soccer National Championship titles after competing against some of the best teams in the country last week in Frisco, Texas.

The 18-and-under Baltimore Celtic Soccer Club 00 boys and 19-and-under Baltimore Celtic SC Christos claimed their crowns on Sunday, July 29, after defeating two Far West Regional teams. The 18U boys became back-to-back champions with a three-goal shutout over Nevada’s Downtown LVSC 00 Academy team. The 19U boys won 2-1 over California South’s FC Golden State White.

The 17-and-under Premier Navy girls placed third in their age group after a close 1-0 loss against champion California South’s Rebels 2001 Elite.

MSYSA is proud of all six teams that competed at the National Championships this year, including the 13U Pipeline SC girls, the 17U Olney Rangers boys, and the 18U Baltimore Bays boys. Best of luck to the players, coaches, team officials and parents in all future endeavors.

The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series provides more than 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer's 55 State Associations the opportunity to showcase their abilities against the best in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play. The yearlong competition begins with over 185,000 players in the US Youth Soccer State Championships. These champions and selected wildcard teams, through US Youth Soccer Regional Leagues, advance to compete in one of four US Youth Soccer Regional Championships. Champions (13U through 19U) from each regional event advance to the US Youth Soccer National Championships. The 14U through 18U Boys and Girls age groups have four teams representing the US Youth Soccer National League.
