Twelve Maryland Players Named to National Tournament Best XI
FRI, Aug. 3, Glen Burnie, MD – Twelve Maryland players were named to the tournament Best 11 for their respective age groups at the 2018 US Youth Soccer National Championships.
Congratulations to the following players for earning this honor:
Pipeline Black 13U Girls: Lauren Kraft & Finley Lavin
Premier Navy 17U Girls: Phoebe Canoles & Jenna Snead
Olney Rangers 17U Boys: Liam Giffin
Baltimore Celtic 18U Boys: Justin Gielen, Brandon Knapp & Benjamin Stitz
Baltimore Celtic Christos 19U Boys: Quantrell Jones, Dylan Poetzel, Samuel Solomon & Brett St. Martin
“The Best XI team was first introduced at the 2011 National Championships,” US Youth Soccer’s press release states. “Similar to FIFA's all-tournament concept, the Best XI recognizes the top 11 performers in each age group, irrespective of their position on the field, throughout the tournament as voted by coaches of the participating teams in that age group.”
