Six Maryland Teams Crowned as US Youth Soccer Eastern Regional Champions!

TUES, JULY 3, Glen Burnie, MD— After competing in the US Youth Soccer Eastern Regional Championships last weekend in Spotsylvania, Virginia, six Maryland soccer teams earned US Youth Soccer Eastern Regional Championship titles.

Regional winners of the 13U through 19U age groups earn a berth to the 2018 US Youth Soccer National Championships, July 23-29, at the Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas. One of the 14 national crowns awarded is the James P. McGuire Cup, the oldest trophy in youth sports, dating back to 1935 with the inaugural youth championships.

The 18U boys Baltimore Bays (Glyndon), who finished the Eastern Championships as a finalist, will also advance to the National Championship Series since the Baltimore Celtic qualified through the National League.  The 12U age group does not participate in the National Championship Series.

The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series provides more than 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer's 55 State Associations the opportunity to showcase their abilities against the best in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play. The yearlong competition begins with over 185,000 players in the US Youth Soccer State Championships.
