Recreational Programs the vast majority of youth soccer players participate at the recreational level; there are more than 40,000 recreational players in Maryland. One of the major objectives of our recreational program is to provide first-class tournament opportunities for recreational players, especially in areas where recreational players do not already have such opportunities. While travel teams have a wide range of tournament opportunities, there are fewer tournaments that cater to recreational teams.
Since 1998, MSYSA has sponsored 7 recreational tournaments in four counties (Montgomery, St. Mary’s, Frederick, and Allegany) and three Districts (Central-West, South, and West) of the State. Teams from all six districts have participated in these tournaments.
In addition to the support of our sponsors, the expansion of these tournaments is also due to the support of local co-hosts. MSYSA is grateful for the assistance of the Allegany Soccer Alliance and the Talbott Soccer Association, and St. Mary’s Youth Soccer.
