Maryland State ODP Tryouts: Process

Maryland State ODP tryouts will begin with the first Maryland District ODP training. Every Maryland District ODP coach will be taking notes and recording their opinions as a numerical score from 1 to 10 (ODP ready) to 10 (not yet ODP ready) after each training session. All of the opinions of all of the coaches will be continually added to a master Excel spreadsheet and by the end of the seven week training sessions a very clear picture of each player will emerge. This process will ensure that every player has the maximum opportunities to show that they belong in the Maryland State ODP training pool for their age group and gender.

Based on the results of each player’s performance during the Maryland District ODP training sessions, reflected in the chronicled collective opinions of the Maryland District ODP coaches, players will be grouped and placed into tryout blocks during the Maryland State ODP tryouts. Every player participating in the Maryland District ODP training pools will be invited to the Maryland State ODP tryouts.
