Born on September 22, 1931 in Scranton, PA, Jim served in the US Navy during the Korean War. After moving to Maryland in the early 1960’s, Jim was a Montgomery County police officer until he retired in 1980. A Rockville resident during most of his time in Maryland, he was a Chapter Chairman for the Montgomery County Red Cross and an aquatic instructor. After volunteering as a youth soccer coach, Jim turned his attention to soccer officiating and was a referee assessor the remainder of his life. He is survived by Kay, his wife of 56 years, of Walkersville; son James of Woodsboro; daughter-in-law Wendy of Woodsboro; sister-in-law Terry and her husband Jim of Silver Spring; and his niece Mary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Red Cross or a charity of your choice . A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later time.
