This spring the Maryland State Cup Committee is introducing a new procedure for the State Cup draw. The draw for the Under 14 through Under 18 boys and girls will be held, as announced, on Sunday, March 7, 2010. It will be conducted at the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association office located at 303 Najoles Road, Suite 109, Millersville, Maryland. The draw will begin at 1:00 PM and should conclude by 4:30 PM.
This spring the State Cup Committee is requiring that each club designate one representative from your club who will be responsible for attending the draw, in its entirety. In addition, the Club Representative will be responsible for disseminating all of the information pertaining to the Maryland State Cup directly to each of teams from your club participating in the 2010 State Cup. In essence, the Club Representative will be the sole contact point for all the teams in your club and the State Cup Committee. This individual must attend a training session prior to the State Cup draw where he/she will be educated on the rules, policies, and procedures of the Maryland State Cup. There will be 2 training sessions held on Sunday, February 28. One session will begin at 10:00 AM and the other at 2:00 PM. Both training sessions will be held at the MSYSA Office in Millersville, MD. The Club Representative need only attend ONE training session. After the training session the Club Representative will be responsible for educating the administrators, coaches, and managers of your club on the rules, policies, and procedures of the Maryland State Cup. The Club Representative will also act as the point of contact between all of your club’s teams and the State Cup Committee.
Individual team representatives, such as the team manager or coach, are also welcome to attend the draw; however, their attendance does not relieve the Club Representative from their attendance requirement. The times for each age group and genders draw will be announced after the State Cup application deadline on February 20, 2010 so that managers and coaches wishing to attend the draw in person can arrive at the appropriate time.
Since the State Cup Committee is comprised solely of volunteers who spend a significant amount of time on the preparation and operation of the State Cup, the Club Representative will be an invaluable asset to the State Cup Committee and to your club teams who participate in State Cup. So, please give some thought to who you want to represent your club as the State Cup representative and forward that person’s name, phone number and email address no later than February 15, 2010 to mdstatecup@msysa.org.
Thank you and Happy New Year,
