ࡱ> HJGE@ !bjbj ">% 82 L~ $<)h " ((((((($*R,h(J JJ( (J  (J("&h' + |&( )0<)&^-^- '^-' 6Dl (( lX MINUTES MSYSA Executive Board Meeting Wednesday, February 21, 2007 President Ben Neil called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Board Members Present: Ben Neil, Mike Basileo, Arlene Rodway, Linda Norton, Jeff Hess, Colleen ONeill Yanchulis, Richard Aleshire, Rich Fabrizio, David Gould, Jack Barnold, Rich Edgar, Mike Sidlak, and Mark Molloy Board Members Absent: Louise Waxler, Doug Schuessler, Cliff Walcott, Gary Schneehagan Others Present: Rob Smith, Barbara Blanford, Debbie Dooley, Jerry May, Jen Pagliaro, Rob Smith, David Hiles (President, Prince Georges S.C.) The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as amended. Presidents Report: Ben diverted from the Agenda and asked Rob Smith, marketing director, to report on the MSYSA 2006 Workshop. Robs report and discussion is as follows: Rob had sent an email to all Board members with constructive feedback from vendors and others from this years workshop. The feedback was reviewed with improvement items earmarked for planning of the 2008 Workshop. Next years Workshop will be held in Baltimore in conjunction with the NSCAA Convention. MSYSA will receive event recognition and will be able to hold registration. The key to next years Workshop is planning far in advance. Ben continued with the Presidents report: Distance Learning The distance learning concept was discussed. Ben had sent a copy of the contract to Board members prior to this meeting in an effort to give as much information as possible prior to voting on this issue. Motion to accept and sign agreement with NSCAA unanimously accepted. Nominating Committee Mark Molloy accepted request to head the Nominating Committee. G Course The G Course is tentatively planned for Sunday, May 6, at Kenwood H.S. It will be offered for free, since it wasnt offered at the Workshop. E License Discussion ensued regarding the differences between the USSF and NSCAA license requirements. We were able to identify that there were two different tracks involved, that we needed to post a disclaimer on the MSYSA website, and either course would be acceptable in terms of our mandating licensing requirements for MSYSA coaches in the Fall of 2007. Motion made and further discussion followed. A vote was taken with one abstention. Motion carried. Affiliation: Colleen presented an affiliation request from the Prince Georges Soccer Club. President David Hiles was in attendance. Motion was made to accept Prince Georges S.C. as a MSYSA affiliate. Motion carried, subject to normal screening requirements. The vote was unanimous. Vacancy Eastern Shore DDP Commissioner. Graham introduced Todd Clarke (#1), Eric Hardsock (#2) and Peter Kamiakas (#2). Motion made, seconded and carried to accept Todd Clarke as Eastern Shore DDP Commissioner, subject to normal requirements. Affiliation: Mark presented Towson United as an affiliate. The club has both recreation and travel teams. Motion was made, seconded and carried to accept the club as an MSYSA affiliate subject to normal requirements. Exec. Vice President: Absent Treasurers Report: Jeff Hess provided a written financial report. The report was accepted. Registrar: Mike Basilleo reported on leading two sessions at the Workshop. There are still problems with rosters with ADG. Mike will follow up on these remedial issues. 1st Vice President: In addition to her written report, Arlene reported on Cup issues and the Cup Draw at the Workshop. 3rd Vice President: Absent Regional Commissioners: DDP Mark Molloy reported some issues to be worked out. Since Mandy Bishop is no longer working at the MSYSA office, Mark asked who is coordinating, who is getting fields, and who is doing registration. Jerry is taking care of registration. In addition, Mark mentioned in the Hagerstown and Frederick areas, there are 20 girls interested in the program, and the need to get someone to handle the program in that area. Girls ODP Written report provided. Debbie reported the ODP girls would be in VA Beach this weekend and will be represented on the Brazil trip. The Barcelona trip is iffy at this point, with only 11 girls signed up. Boys ODP Jen Pagliaro reported on the International trips Scotland and Brazil are full with only a couple of spots open on the two teams going to Argentina. Jen also reported on five MD 1992 boys have been invited on the Region 1 trip, and Ryan Gracia is in residency in Bradenton with the U17s. In addition, Rob Vartughian will be going to China with the US U-23 team. 2nd Vice President: Jack Barnold reported that Girls ODP coach Ted Zingman has accepted an offer as head coach in Minnesota and had necessarily resigned as ODP coach. Jack presented Jeff Grossers name as a replacement for the Assistant Coach of the 94 boys team. Subject to license passing, motion was made, seconded and carried to accept Jeff Grosser as the replacement for Ted Zingman. Director of Coaching: Graham reported on the various courses being offered in the State (i.e., D, E and F courses.) In addition, a Czech Republic A license course is available to MD coaches at the Charles University in Prague from May 2-22. Total cost is approximately $3500 for airfare, lodging, meals and course tuition. In addition, Graham reported that Dave Gaddy and Vince Heart from the Watford FC Academy have been invited to present an International Week on Developing Excellence. Risk Management: Mike Sidlak reported on the Workshop. In addition, he asked if all Board members had filled out the Conflict of Interest forms. If not, Mike asked that the forms be filled out and sent to him. League Report: No league representative present. Golf Tournament: Eric McAleer is chairing the First Annual MSYSA Golf Tournament. Flyers were handed out. In need are golfers and sponsors. It was pointed out this could be a very successful and worthwhile event if the member clubs support the effort. Executive Director: Jerry handed out copies of the RFP responses for vendors to supply MSYSA and its programs apparel and equipment. It is intended that the Board members would study the proposals and would act on this at the next Board meeting in March. As a follow-up, Ben and Jerry planned to meet with several vendors at the USYSA Workshop in St. Louis in March. Good of the Game: Rich Edgar reported on the DDP program in his area, and the need for play dates and calendar items. Rich suggested that the head coaches meet.
