Coaching Education policy on Waivers

Many leagues and associations throughtout the state have begun to develop standards and requirements for coaching at different for coaching at different levels. The following is an explanation of the waiver policy and how to obtain consideration for a waiver:

What is a waiver? Depending upon the level of practical experience of practical experience of playing and coaching, it is possible to enroll in the state D coaching license course with a waiver granted by the state’s Director of Coaching beyond the entry level E course. Obtaining a waiver does not  grant an individual a license. It merely determines where the individual coach will begin in the coaching education programs.

Procedure:

1. Fill out  Wavier form and include paper work and information to support your request.

2. Mail the form to MSYSA,P.O.Box 667, Millersville,MD 21108 Attention: Director of Coaching. Request needs to be two weeks before the schedule start date of the course.

What is evaluated in obtaining a waiver?

Playing Experience:

Candidates seeking a waiver need to have  played at the collagiate level or higher. Proof will be reqiured to substantiate playing experience:

Examples of proof:( It is the candidates responsibility to provide this information.)

Game roster on school or professional letterhead.

Letter from college or professional organization on letterhead.

Professional Contract.

Letter from national federation.

 Coaching Experience:

Prior coaching experience.

List the age group of player that the coach is working with.

Foregin Coaching  Licenses:

Attach a copy of the foregin license. ( Equivocating  a foreign certificate/license does not award a state or national license. It is recommended that coaches who have received  certificates from foreign associations attend a state or national  coaching  course in the U.S. within one year.)
