Coach of the Year
The MSYSA coaches of the year award are named in honor of Dr. Donald Minnegan, one of the true pioneers of youth soccer in Maryland. Throughout his life, Dr. Minnegan worked tirelessly to promote the creation of youth soccer programs in the Baltimore area and around the state. In selecting its coaches of the year, MSYSA seeks to recognize youth soccer coaches who exemplify the high standards of commitment and service to youth soccer, and the youth of Maryland, as set by Dr. Minnegan.

Past winners have included coaches who have won multiple State, regional, and national championships at both the high school and youth levels. It has also included coaches whose primary experience has been in coaching recreational teams in neighborhood programs. The common trait of all the winners is that they have made a difference with their players, helping instill a lifelong love of soccer and promoting personal growth and sportsmanship.
