MSYSA is pleased to announce the 2012 MSYSA Presidents Cup tournament is now open for team applications. The deadline for entries is March 1st with the Presidents Cup Draw being held on Saturday March 3rd, 12:00pm. All teams must plan on sending a representative to the Presidents Cup Draw. Intermediate level teams that are not participating in the MSYSA State Cup Tournament or regional leagues are encouraged to apply to play in the MSYSA Presidents Cup. The MSYSA 2012 Presidents Cup will be limited to only 8 teams per age group so be sure to apply quickly before the tournament fills up.
The Presidents Cup is a single elimination tournament with all games scheduled to be played over three consecutive weekends in April. Teams will be scheduled to play no more than one match per day. All games except the finals are scheduled to be played at Cedar Lane Regional Park in Harford County. The finals will be held at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Montgomery County. The dates and locations of the Presidents Cup play are aligned with the MSYSA State Cup Tournament to generate a fun, festive atmosphere for everyone.
This year’s Presidents Cup introduces a pay as you play pricing model. At application time, teams entering the tournament only pay for the first round game and submit separate checks for all subsequent rounds. Two (2) additional checks and bond check should be included with your approved roster and sent into the MSYSA office. Checks for subsequent rounds not played will be returned to the team. Tournament fees submitted do not include referees fees, which each team is responsible for paying at the field prior to their match. All games, regardless of round of play, are priced the same. This approach lowers the overall cost of the tournament for the majority of the teams participating in Presidents Cup.
